New shops headed to your neighborhood
From Building Salt Lake
9th and 9th
We noted back in March that this trendy area had a 1,600-square-foot unit available for lease at 1058 E. 900 South. That unit will be the new home of a candy store, named Sugar Moose Candy, according to a permit filed with Salt Lake City late last month.
The store, which sells Swedish candy, recently opened last week, according to the company’s Instagram account. The company also has a location in Kaysville, which was its first.
Coffee shops
Recent permits filed with Salt Lake City show a few more coffee shops are getting ready to open around town.
One of those coffee shops will be on the western end of Trolley Square mall, located at 602 E. 500 South. The Beaumont Coffee Bar filed for its commercial building permit earlier this week, as the permit says the business will consist of a, “a 663-square-foot coffee bar kiosk within the existing Trolley Square mall.”
“The scope involves erecting a self-supported steel frame and overhead canopy that requires minimal intervention to the existing building structure,” the permit application says. “The buildout includes the installation of new architectural millwork, food service casework, an epoxy floor coating in the prep area, and minor connections to existing, electrical and plumbing utilities.”
On the other end of town, another coffee shop is taking shape. Located at 824 W. 200 South, a commercial plumbing permit indicates Coffee on 2nd could be a new addition to the Poplar Grove neighborhood.
Details on the coffee shop are limited, as the permit meant only to request the installation of plumbing to accommodate the new coffee shop.
2100 South
Residents in Sugar House could be getting two new restaurants in the same complex, and one of those might be familiar to those in Utah County.
Two commercial mechanical permits filed this week hint at new eateries on the ground level of the Twenty Ones Apartments, which are located along 2100 South near 2100 East. The complex already has a handful of other shops and retail spots, including a candle making store, a nail spa and a Great Harvest Bakery Cafe location.
But the area could soon also be home to the Station 21 restaurant and Pizzeria 712.
The permit reveals little details for Station 21, only saying the permit would be to provide, “mechanical and kitchen equipment for a new restaurant space.”
There’s also little information in the Pizzeria 712 permit, but that name might ring a bell for folks in Orem. A longtime staple in Orem, Pizzeria 712 has served up wood-fired pizzas in Utah County for years and has garnered numerous positive reviews along the way.
